I've watched the different political groups on campus and see the conflict that sparks at the smallest difference of opinion. Conservative organizations bash others for being "racist and stupid" and liberal groups bash others for being "stupid and racist" - all the while both of them are claiming to be open minded and open to different ideas.
Since when does having strong opinions mean you can't talk to anyone about it? I love to stop at all the campus tables, no matter what their ideology, just to learn something new. How can I say what I truly believe if I'm not willing to hear the other side out? Progressive, Liberal, Democrat, "Leftist", I would like you to meet Consevative, Republican, Right-Wing - now shake hands.... I know the conservatives think differently, I know the liberals say weird stuff - but please just listen. Left, don't call the right dumb - no matter how little they believe in evolution or social programs, and Right don't call Left the haters of America simply because they work for social change and think the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction. Let's talk - let's communicate - you may be surprised at what you find out. |

I really must admit, as much as I admire your wantingness for unity, being in the middle is not a solid virtue, there is a side, or you can be ignorant, and not worry about it, but once you get into the mess of politics, not just American politics, there is a side to choose, and bizzarely enough, it isn't always left and right. |

Well, Im not really sure why there are so many political groups. It seems to me that we have an outline the Constitution so, why are we not following it. Shrug. Your really doing a diservice to the country by voting strait tickets and closing yourself off. Thats how we have gotten ourselves into the mess we are in today and it will never end unless people think with there head and not how they feel. |
